Customs office to allow import of sex doll torso parts
SEOUL, July 11 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's customs office said Monday that starting this month, it will only allow the import of love doll torsos that depict certain human body parts, but not the whole body.
A sex doll torso is a realistic, adult-sized sex toy that resembles a man or a woman. It may consist of a whole body with a face or just a pelvic part.
In 2019, the Supreme Court allowed the import of a certain type of life-sized sex doll torsos on the grounds that they are sex toys for private use and not obscene material as defined by the customs office.
The Korean customs office, however, refused to clear various types of incoming sex doll torsos that depict certain human body parts or the whole body more realistically than the products approved by the Supreme Court. The office labeled them as obscene material that offends public morals.
The customs authority will decide whether to allow the import of the new type of full-body dolls depending on the court's future rulings.
However, in November the Supreme Court ruled that the import of child-like lower body sex doll torsos should be banned because they could lead to children being perceived as sexual objects and increase the risk of sexual crimes against minors.
